Born and raised in the dominican republic, arlenis sosa broke into international fashion stardom in 2008 as one of the most in-demand models on the runway, and one of the first from latin america in the modern era.
Sosa dove head-first into the fashion industry, with anna wintour sending her to the prestigious met ball during her very first week in new york city. A mere two weeks after signing with a new york agency, she booked her first editorials for both american vogue and italian vogue.
Sosa has since been featured in editorials and articles in american, italian, french, spanish, and german vogue, in addition to allure, elle, interview, i-d, and harper’s bazaar. During her debut runway season in 2008, sosa walked for the likes of dior and oscar de la renta, opening the latter show as one of the designer’s new muses. From there, she has walked for anna sui, bottega veneta, carolina herrera, donna karan, hermes, jean paul gaultier, michael kors, ralph lauren and more.
Sosa has appeared in advertising campaigns for david yurman, polo ralph lauren, gap, and many more. Sosa is perhaps most known for becoming lancome’s spokesmodel when she was only 19-years-old, joining notable a-list names such as kate winslet and anne hathway as well as breaking ground for many latin american talents after her.
Despite her personal success, sosa remains committed to her home country and has worked closely with schools and organizations to improve the state of children’s education in the dominican republic. Over the years, she has developed numerous various projects and events around raising funds for the cause.
