HAIDER ACKERMANN

Latin American Fashion Awards

Born in Santa Fe de Bogota, Colombia, Haider Ackermann grew up in different countries throughout Africa and Europe. Ethiopia, Tchad, Algeria, The Netherlands, Belgium and France.

In 1994 he enters The Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerpen. In March 2003, he shows his first collection in Paris, collection acclaimed by the International Press.

Ruffo asked him to design the “Ruffo Research Collection” SS 2004. In 2004, Haider Ackermann is the winner of the prestigious Swiss Textile Awards.

In June 2010, Haider Ackermann is the Guest Designer of Piti_W8 in Firenze, his first approach to menswear. In October 2012, he receives a Fashion Award / Fashion Night of Stars from the Fashion Group International.

His collections are distributed worldwide in carefully selected sales points, including department stores, and internationally renowned boutiques. In September 2016, Haider Ackermann was named Creative Director of Berluti.

In April 2018, he was chosen to preside the fashion jury of the 33rd edition of the International Festival of Fashion and Photography, where he had the responsibility of selecting the jury members, including notable figures like Tilda Swinton, Jefferson Hack, Lou Doillon, and Ben Gorham, among others.

In December 2021, Haider Ackermann collaborated with his close friend Timothée Chalamet to design a hoodie, where 100% of the proceeds went to Afghanistan Libre: a relief organization with boots on the ground that fights to safeguard Women’s and Children’s rights.

In November 2022, Haider Ackermann presented a collection in collaboration with Fila at the occasion of a show in Manchester. In January 2023, he was invited as the Guest Designer of Jean Paul Gaultier Haute Couture. His first Haute Couture collection was met with great acclaim and achieved considerable success.

Throughout his career, Haider Ackermann has maintained collaborations with actress Tilda Swinton and actor Timothée Chalamet, participating in prestigious events such as the Festival de Cannes, la Mostra de Venise, the Oscars, and the Met Gala.

Between dream and reality, Haider Ackermann’s work is about contrasts, a mix of different cultures, an elegance with an edge, and a diabolically sophisticated sense of effortless with sharp and precise cuts.
