ENRIQUE LEYVA

Mexico

Enrique Leyva is a photographer born in Oaxaca, whose work in the fashion industry has been grounded in the search for new paths that speak to representation and inclusion—particularly of Indigenous beauty and identity. He was recently recognized by Business of Fashion as one of the photographers transforming the Latin American fashion industry and was invited to attend the annual gala celebrating the BoF500 list.

His work has also been exhibited in galleries and exhibitions such as PhotoVogue and the Paris Photo Festival. Leyva’s photography tells stories that delve into his past, his roots, and his way of honoring his cultural heritage and the ancestral lineage of his grandmothers and family. He seeks to represent brown skin and share the life stories that shape his experience as a Mexican and Latino in the everyday rhythms of life.

His practice is deeply committed to elevating fashion photography by using elements such as color, textures, and specific symbols from Mexican and Latin culture. His work has appeared in both editorial and commercial contexts, including Vogue US, Vogue Mexico, GQ, Harper’s Bazaar, Esquire Italia, ELLE Mexico, Teen Vogue, Allure, among others. He has also worked directly with brands such as Dior, Carolina Herrera, Valentino Beauty, Willy Chavarria x Adidas, Sézane, COS, Campillo, and Escvdo.

Leyva’s work is always tied to his cultural heritage and the ancestral legacy passed down from his grandmothers and family. That is why every project he undertakes is rooted in the inspiration of his origins and the DNA of his life journey.
