Nídia Aranha, born in Rio de Janeiro, is an artist, researcher, and creative director, recognized in 2024 by the British Fashion Council as one of 50 visionaries reshaping contemporary aesthetics. Her work blends fictional and documentary visual narratives, exploring corporeality, gender disobedience, and speculative design. Her practice bridges art with technology, design, and itinerant architecture, developing concepts and environments through multidisciplinary methodologies to create new aesthetic experiences. Nídia has collaborated with brands such as Facebook, Google, Netflix, Motorola, Avon, and Ambev; artists including IZA, Glória Groove, Pabllo Vittar, and Erykah Badu; and festivals such as Rock in Rio, Lollapalooza, Primavera Sound, and Coachella. Her work has been featured in festivals and exhibitions worldwide, including the 3rd Urban Imaginaries Festival (Ceará), III Opyum Video Performance (Paris), MASSIMO (Milan), and BPA (Cologne). The piece Ordenha 002 was shown at the 13th Mercosur Biennial (Porto Alegre) and in Tu m’ouvres tes bras et on fait un pays: Brésil; corps et démocratie, at Galerie Ilian Rebei (Paris). Her research project Ordenha, acclaimed for its innovation, documents a pioneering exploration of T-induced lactation through a rigorous biohacker hormonal regimen, drawing parallels between travesti experience and livestock production, and exploring extractive chains imposed on non-human females. The work was nominated for the PIPA Prize, Brazil’s leading contemporary art award. Nídia has exhibited at institutions such as MASP (São Paulo Museum of Art), CCSP, Olhão (São Paulo), and EAV Parque Lage (Rio de Janeiro). She received Best Production Design at the m-v-f- awards (2021 and 2022) and the Ciclope Latino Award for a fashion film created with Marvin and starring Erykah Badu. She trained at EAV Parque Lage and completed a residency with Petra Metzger, faculty at Central Saint Martins.
