Argentina

Sofia and Mauro were born in Argentina in 1972.

They grew up in environments that were very supportive of the arts, Sofia with her actor father and her visual artist mother, and Mauro with his cartoonist/illustrator father, known as Napo and his painter mother.

Fashion photography obsessed teenager Sofia met Mauro while she was studying Film in Bs As, he  was studying Spanish Literature and fronting a post-punk underground band.

They started their photographic duo right after with the dream to cross the Atlantic and take their photography further.

Arriving to Paris in 2001, they immediately gained entry into the Fashion World as the winners of the  2002 edition of the Prix  Picto de la jeune photographie, an important award for emerging talents which it was quickly followed by  their first solo exhibition at the Palais de Tokyo in Paris .

Since then work has been displayed at museums and galleries such as Le Musee des Arts Decoratifs de Paris, the Shiseido Gallery in Paris, Gallery Emmanuel Perrotin Paris(collaboration with Elmgreen and Dragset exhibition), Espace 111, Musee Europeen de la Photographie (Collective exhibition), Three Gallery Tokyo and The Annenberg Space for Photography (Los Angeles).

Sofia and Mauro’s client roster includes brands both in luxury fashion and household name brands such as  Louis Vuitton, Vogue, Numero Magazine,  Dior, Givenchy, Armani, Lanvin, Missoni, Escada  Harpers’s Bazaar, Ungaro, Loewe, L’Oréal, Hublot, Eres,  Swaroski,  Ten Magazine, New Por Times magazine, Boucheron, Petit Bateau, Piper Heidesiek, Paco Rabanne, The New Yorker magazine  Louboutin, Newsweek magazine, Saks Fifth Avenue,  Wall Street Journal magazine, Bergdorf Goodman, Vanity Fair magazine, Chopard and Air France

In 2022 they published their first solo book as an homage to their native Bs As.

This work is part of the Vuitton Editions  collection , Fashion Eye.

Their acclaimed career has been strongly focused on portraying celebrities, political figures, actors and musicians. To name a few:

Their stylistic palette encompasses cinematographic accents, saturated colors, dense shadows slipping into compositions, models encouraged to free themselves  and play into their little surreal stories where references to religious imagery, underground cinema and magic realism.
