ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA

In order to be considered for the Latin American Fashion Awards, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  1. Applicants must be owner/director of the project, foundation and/or company.
  2. Project must be based in Latin America and support local communities.
  3. Project must fall into one or more of the following categories: Textiles, Clothing, Accessories.
  4. Project must be an active business for at least 2 years.
  5. Project must be built around the 3 Pillars of Sustainability: Social Progress, Economic Growth and Environmental Sustainability.
  6. Project must provide positive proof of impact and sustainable economic progress on their communities.
  7. Project must prove recognition from local and/or international media.

ASSESSMENT CRITERIA

Applications will be reviewed under the following criteria:

  1. Creative merit: Impactful innovation for the preservation of ancestral techniques, point of distinctiveness, social/environmental responsibility and accountability for their actions.
  2. Enhances hand-made, artisanal and traditional crafts promoting a conscious and slow approach to design that reflects the region´s idiosyncrasy.
  3. Demonstration of resilience, creativity, innovation and intention to evolve and respond to change.
  4. Contribution to the growth of the Latin American social, environmental and economic ecosystems, ie. heritage preservation, production, distribution, job creation, raw materials.
  5. Social responsibility and Ethic Certificates will be valued.
  6. Degree of regional and international media presence and recognition.
  7. Social consciousness and responsible practices must be the focal point of every stage of the project: materials, production, distribution and promotion.
  8. Project should consider: circular economy; fair trade and employment practices; traceability and transparency on every stage of the process; having a positive impact on local communities and their environment.
  9. Quality and completion of application form.

*All Latin American based fashion related Artisanal Projects are eligible for the Award.
